HTC Desire , Desire HD and Desire Z getting updated to gingerbread

It seems that Desire series of Phones is finally getting much anticipated Gingerbread update. Google Nexus One was updated to Gingerbread few weeks back and It was expected that HTC would soon release update to its desire series of smart phones. HTC is one company that comes to mind which is very instrumental regarding early updates. It was confirmed by Three UK via its official Twitter page  that HTC Desire will get Gingerbread update in late April or Early May. As It's the case with other Phones the Sim free version get updated before the carrier ones we are expecting Gingerbread will soon be available for Sim free models.
